and find lasting peace with food
and find lasting peace with food
Does binge eating feel like it zaps your life force and that each time you psyche yourself up for that infamous new beginning it just gets harder? I know it can be difficult to believe, especially if you've been in these cycles for a while, but there is a way through. And no, it doesn't involve points or calorie counting or months of superhuman willpower! I'm well aware these don't work and just leave you more demoralised.
My name is Olivia Shakespear, I'm a Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach and I was a binge eater for over 20 years. Growing up overweight, I never fully accepted my body or my femininity. The food struggles became more and more pronounced as I used food to escape the painful feelings of being in a body I did not like. Years of extreme eating patterns rewired my brain into tried and tested destructive routes that felt almost impossible to break out of.
So I finally decided to try something different and go inwards, feeling into my body rather than trying to cut off from it. Things then changed - and very quickly. It's important to understand that we all hold that divine feminine essence, regardless of the warped and two-dimensional vision we've been given of what it is to be a woman. I should say here, that this issue is certainly not limited to women, and for men it is just as important to step into their divine power. When we do this we are breaking from the programs that have kept both men and women tied into believing they are not worthy unless they fit certain social ideals.
This doesn't mean you have to give up on goals like losing weight or getting fit, but why not love and accept yourself as you go towards these goals, rather than making this a requirement of true acceptance? And what's so wonderful is that food and your body can then truly become your allies! You'll find yourself making choices from a place of honouring your body rather than trying to force it to change.
I now work with people to guide them through this process. Having proper support and accountability is vital. Let's face it, it's not easy to talk to others about these things and having someone on hand is really important. For more details on my programmes and how I work with people have a look here.
My free Recovery Guide below goes into more detail about why these cycles develop and how to break them. If it resonates then do take that next step and book your free starter session today on the link below.
