Nutrition is now widely recognised as a vital component of overall health and well-being. The last decades have seen a significant rise in chronic disease and so the importance of what we eat is more relevant than ever. As a result, Nutritional Therapy is becoming one of the most sought-after methods for addressing all aspects of health on the most fundamental level. Whilst based in the sciences, Nutritional Therapy can be used as a completely natural approach to healthcare, with none of the harsh side effects that pharmacological solutions can have.
We need to see food in a broader perspective than simply calorific need and supply of nutrients. Binge eating recovery and overcoming disordered eating involves changing your fundamental relationship with food.
Initially this might be about letting go of all the harsh restrictions and guilt and shame that go along with eating certain foods, but for full recovery I believe we need to go deeper than this. We need to tune into the foods we eat and how they affect us on an emotional and energetic level, as well as physically.
